4, 5, 6 MISSOULA Western Montana Wood Carvers Show The Western Montana Wood Carvers Show happens every spring at the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Registration is Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Public viewing is Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The show is an exhibition of wood carvings by local and national wood carvers. 5 MISSOULA Garden City BrewFest The 15th Annual Garden City BrewFest, produced by the Missoula Downtown Association, promises to be an exciting and vibrant event slated for Saturday May 5 from 12-8 p.m. in Caras Park. Admission to BrewFest is free, but for those interested in tasting the beverages on tap there will be charges of $5 for a 7-ounce commemorative glass, a wristband and two tokens, good for beer or wine. Additional tokens are $1 each. Soda, water a variety of food choices are also available for purchase, including brats and pizza by the Sentinel Kiwanis Club and Mexican faire from El Cazador. 26, 27 BIGFORK Bigfork Whitewater Festival The Bigfork Whitewater Festival involves international kayak racing on the “wild mile” of the Swan River that runs through Bigfork. At the height of spring runoff, the “Wild Mile” is considered a Class V whitewater. The event draws over 200 competitors along with several thousand spectators. 12 WEST YELLOWSTONE Spring Cycle Tour The 10th Annual Spring Cycle Tour. The tour - around what locals call “the block” - is 64 miles long. It’s a challenging early season ride but the scenery is gorgeous and we do our best to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable day. 19 BOZEMAN Watershed Festival The Montana Outdoor Science School will be hosting the Annual Watershed Festival at the Bozeman Fish Technology Center. Offered free to the public, the Community Watershed Festival is made possible by business sponsors, volunteers, and other private donations. Topics include bird and mammal identification, wetland wonders and function, stream ecology, nature walks, fly casting, birds of prey, noxious weed identification, stream monitoring, a hatchery and facility research tour, aquatic macro invertebrates, natural science interpretation and activities, and well water information. We strive to find new exhibitors every year to keep the show fresh and bring the public the very best of handmade crafts. 5 GREAT FALLS Great Falls Bike Club’s Belt Creek Road Race The Great Falls Bike Club will hold its annual Belt Creek Road Race on Saturday, May 6th. The one-day, two-stage event is comprised of a time-trial and a road race, and is open to riders of all ages and abilities. While the race does attract “serious racers” to earn points for the Montana Cup Points Series and the chance at a $400 cash purse, there are categories for novices as well. “For those riders just looking to gauge their abilities, it’s a great event to start out with,” says John Juras, the Club Member who is organizing the race. 16, 18 GREAT FALLS Special Olympics Summer Games Great Falls hosts the 2007 State Summer Games where more than 1,000 Special Olympics athletes gather from across the state. Athletic events include track and field, gymnastics, aquatics, cycling, equestrian, bowling, bocce, power lifting, golf, and soccer. Most events also feature Unified Sports, which joins Special Olympics athletes and non-disabled Partners as teammates. The Games officially begin with Opening Ceremonies featuring the Parade of Athletes. An exciting evening of family entertainment follows and is open to the public. 6-31 MILES CITY Western Art Roundup & Quick Draw The 2007 Western Art Roundup Exhibit, including Quick Draw and Auction, coincides with the world-famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale. The Quick Draw and Auction follows the Bucking Horse Parade on Saturday morning and takes place in Riverside Park on Main Street in Miles City. 12 BILLINGS 26th Annual Montana Women’s Run The Montana Women’s Run is held annually on the Saturday before Mother’s Day in celebration of the mutual pursuit of health and fitness.
