VIDEO: Yellowstone Bison Charges Group of Children Who Get WAY Too Close
October 03, 2020
Ah, childhood. The writer Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote that "childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies." But I don't think there were bison or tourists wherever Edna was from.
Which isn't to say that a child dies in this video, because of course, we wouldn't show you that. But we're not above showing you a whole group of children flirting with disaster.
The video, taken at Yellowstone a few years ago, shows a group of children approaching a bison next to the boardwalk. The bison is not happy about the children approaching, and he does everything he can to tell them so by gesturing with his head, lowing, and stomping. But the plucky children, blessed with the fecklessness of youth, persist in getting closer and closer. Finally, there are several children within feet of him on his right and his left, and the bison starts feeling hemmed in.
So he charges.
Most of the kids get clear within a few seconds, but the smallest kid happens to run exactly where the bison charges. Pretty soon the bison's after the kid, who can't be more than eleven, turning on a dime and kicking up a lot of dust tearing after him.
Thank God the kid isn't hurt. Thank God, in fact, that none of the assorted baker's dozen or so kids weren't hurt.
The thing that really gets us is the man seen laughing in the last few seconds, as if it's one of the funniest things ever to occur. Is he their father? Irresponsible drunk uncle? Does he stand to make money or inherit property if the kid dies or something? What is so funny?
See the whole video below, and leave a comment if you get the joke this gentleman finds so darn hilarious!
