Local Surgeo Highlights Potential Benefits of the MYMOBILITY® Application for Orthopedic Procedures

Knee replacement

Total joint replacement is one of the most commonly performed, elective surgical procedures in the United States. It is also becoming an increasingly popular outpatient procedure at surgery centers across the country, including Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, Montana.

Dr. M. Benjamin Farr and the medical staff at Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) are excited to offer Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility® app, which acts as a surgical companion for patients before and after orthopedic surgery, such as knee and hip replacement. The app offers the ability for surgeons to send education and therapy reminders directly to the patient’s smartphone. The app also allows surgeons to monitor patient activity levels throughout the days and weeks while they are preparing for and recovering from surgery. By delivering procedure-specific information at the appropriate time, it gives patients the ability to understand their condition and take an active role in their care.

“For everyone involved – surgeons, medical staff and, most importantly, patients – mymobility has the potential to offer a number of key benefits and advantages,” Dr. Farr said. “We know the decision to have surgery is often a difficult one for patients to make, and we believe these supportive digital health technologies have the potential to make it an easier one moving forward.”
