50-mile and 50k races are designed as loops that vary from open state highway to maintained and closed Forest Service roads to single-track trail. The overall elevation gain/loss for the 50 mile is approximately 6,000 feet and the gain/loss for the 50K is about 4,000 feet. The majority of the race offers spectacular views and potential wildlife encounters. Bear spray is not required, but it is recommended.
