Though complaining about the wind is one of our favorite things, we Montanans do not have a monopoly on high winds.  Idaho, our friends to the west, also enjoy the odd gust from time to time.

And this time they were gale-force.  On September 7, 2020, powerful winds knocked over a few trees near the Hayden Lake Country Club in Idaho, near Couer D'Alene.  One tree, which appears to have been at least 80 feet tall, was blown so hard it uprooted and fell onto the country club pro shop.  Luckily for us, and maybe for their insurance claim, someone was on hand to film.

The Hayden Lake Country Club has an august history going back to 1907, when it was designed by the same firm responsible for designing central park.  It was famously visited by William Howard Taft (hopefully it's bathtubs proved to be of sufficient size for Mr. President), and also served as the location for a silent film.

Luckily, no one was hurt and the building only sustained minimal damage.  But it sure makes for some dramatic footage!
