Blizzard of 1955 Buried Cars In Lewistown!

Old-timers all over the world like to complain that they had it worse.  The walk to school was uphill both ways; the wind would pick them up and dash them against the ground while they trudged, and they'd have to contend with the ravenous advances of wolves and bears along the route.

But old-timers from Lewistown can use this photo as ammo as they do so, because the blizzard it shows is admittedly impressive.

According to the information provided by the Montana Memory Project, the view is of the corner of Main Street and 5th Avenue. Charles Follmer owned the Home Plate Restaurant at 502 W. Main.

Does anyone remember that restaurant?  Or this blizzard?  Leave a comment below!  And click on the picture to see all the fine details!

Chuck Folkmer's son, Duane, was my first, and oldest, friend in Lewistown. They lived five houses down from my parents. I would frequently have lunch at the Home Plate when I was in Lewistown Junior High, hot homemsde soups with oyster crackers great on cold winter's day!
