VIDEO: Family Dogs Confront Grizzly Bears Eating Their Kibble
November 19, 2020
Bears and dogs might share some distant ancestors, but, just like with human family, that doesn't necessarily mean they're friends. So when this Canadian woman looked outside to see that there were two bears rooting through her garbages, and that her two dogs were apparently fixing to confront them about it, you can imagine her fear and panic.
So she got on the phone with her husband, and you can hear from the tone of her voice that she's very concerned for her pups.
"No! Come here, come here," she yelled after them. "We have three young grizzlies in our yard right now... two of them are in the root cellar right now, eating the dog food!"
Well now, right there you can tell why the dogs are upset - the bears are eating their dinner!
You can also hear his responses: "Put the dogs in the house!"
"I tried," she yells back, "but they won't listen to me!"
The dogs are as cute as you expect family pets to be. One is a big friendly mutt that may be part lab, and the other is a diminuitive little fella. Both are wagging their tails to beat the band; you get the sense the dogs think it's all great fun.
"I don't know what to do," he says. "Keep yourself safe!"
"Yeah, but they're going to come after the dogs," she protests.
As for the bears, they seem almost entirely uninterested in the dogs. They're altogether too comfortable eating kibble to worry it.
The dogs weren't hurt, and neither were the people. The bears got a free lunch. So I guess you could say that in this instance, everybody won.
