Everyone knows the legend of the teddy bear's picnic.  They remember how every bear who's been good is sure of a treat today, about the marvellous things to eat and wonderful games to play.  But this elusive ritual has never been filmed or photographed.

Until now.

Of course, anyone knows anything about teddy bear picnics know why.  But we will refer to the text for those ignorant souls who don't already know: the teddy bear picnic has always been held "beneath the trees where nobody sees" so that the assembled ursine population can "hide and seek as long as they please."  In order to observe them, one must, as the song says, "go in disguise" so as to "catch them unawares and see them picnic on their holiday."

We assume that previous efforts to capture the event failed to wear the disguise, caught the bears semi-awares, etc.

But now, at long last, the full teddy bear picnic has been captured by a woman in Hancock Michigan.  Going in full disguise, being sure to catch them unawares, she crept up to their secret hiding place (her backyard) and started the camera rolling.  Before her disbelieving eyes, she saw a genuine, authentic teddy bear picnic playing out.

Interestingly enough, this may be a socially distanced teddy bear picnic, because ordinarily it is described as playing host to "every bear there ever was", but in this case, it seems to be limited to three bears, so maybe the rest of the bears are just live-streaming the picnic from their dens.

At any rate, this ranks with Heinrich Schlieman's discovery of Troy, Howard Carter's excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb, and Charmin's unearthing of the once-mythical Toilet Paper Bears (Ursus Crappus) in the annals of historical/scientific discovery.
