VIDEO: Fearless Wolf Sneaks Up, Bites Bear Butt

We've already shown you a video about the unlikely friendship of bears and wolves.  But those are the exceptions that prove the rule -- like the rare Tom and Jerry cartoons where the cat and mouse put down their differences for a moment.  But then, next cartoon, they'd be at each other's throats again sure as the sun will come up tomorrow.

But sometimes the competition for their spot on the food chain turns into animal animosity somewhere between full-on attack and playful pranking. Just look at this video for a perfect example.

We don't know where the video was shot, but given the accent of the family in the car and the fact that their steering wheel is on the right of the vehicle, we think it may be somewhere "down undah."

(Hello to our Australian readers, by the way!  We see you there, hiding!  If you happen to be sitting there having a cuppa, why don't you leave us a comment and say g'day!)

Anyway, the wolf trots along just behind the bear, who doesn't seem in the mood to play.  But then the wolf takes a nice, big CHOMP of the bear's tuckus, and the once-indifferent bear is suddenly very much interested in catching the wolf and meting out a measured response - probably by taking a bite of the wolf.

Come to think of it, it more than resembles some of the grade school pranks in which we were both instigator and unwilling recipient...

The video stops before we see what happens, but we assume that the wolf, being fleet of foot, got away and snickered about this to all his wolf friends.

Or maybe biting a bear's butt is the wolf equivalent of counting coup -- in that case, surely this wolf's earned a feather.

G’day!

Doubt that it’s here in Aus; we don’t have bears or wolves.

BTW, I thoroughly enjoy this site. It wasn’t until recently that it occurred to me that I’d grown up camping in one of the few places in the world that doesn’t have things running around that might see people as dinner. We have snakes and spiders, but they don’t hunt us. The only thing we do have that sees us as food, are crocodiles, but they’re only in limited areas and are easy to avoid.

All the best, Murray

Their accent is definitely not Aussie. It's English. Likely one of the drive through animal parks in England

Doubt it! The different species of animals are kept separate in animal parks here ... well, especially the ones which can kill each other! The video filming the bear and wolf must be a British couple on holiday (vacation) somewhere.
