VIDEO: Grizzly Bear Hunting, Killing Cattle Near Road

If you're a vegan, we have nothing but respect for you.  You've made a wise, eco-friendly choice.  A plant-based diet is good for the earth, and if we switched over, we'd probably be able to fit into our lucky jeans again before too long.  Vegans of the world, we salute you.

The thing that really gains you our respect is your willpower - your ability not to give in when you see a nice big juicy burger.

There's the sound of a nice big hamburger sizzling and the smell.  Oh, carmelized onions?  Sure, that sounds good, yeah, we'll have some.   A slice of cheese?  Yeah, why not throw one on too.  A second hamburger patty?  Why you devil, we're going to have to watch ourselves around you, aren't we?

Ahem, we forgot what we were talking about.

Oh yes: don't you think that's how grizzly bears must see cows?  Though bison were once a staple of grizzly diet before industrialized society put a stop to that by nearly eliminating the bison.  But even then, now that bison populations are on the rise, there are a few rare occasions when a grizzly gets to have a bite of bison.

But what they never get, and what they must really want, are domesticated livestock.  A bunch of cows in a field must look to them like a bunch of twinkies standing on a plate.  And yet, most grizzlies are smart enough to stay out of human areas for the most part, especially if the humans are correspondingly smart enough to secure their food waste.

And yet, it does happen that a bear will pick off some livestock here and there -- more likely a sheep or a chicken, but sometimes, a full cow.  While a black bear might dream of doing so, a grizzly is absolutely capable of doing so, if he has the opportunity.

And in this shocking video below, this big Wyoming bear's got motive, opportunity, and appetite.  Check out the video, and in the meantime I'm going to tuck into this here burger.  Oh, do you have any ketchup?

Totally Agree!! We're moving into their homes, their not moving into ours. Our planet is home to Many Species and Just Because We're Humans, Does Not Mean We Have The Right To Kill Them! Maybe if We Wouldn't Have Slaughtered Thousands of Bison, Their Main Food Source, Besides Deer and Elk... I'm sure They'd Leave the Cattle Alone!! We Have To Learn To Share and Have Compassion and Empathy for ALL ANIMALS!! WE DO NOT OWN THIS WONDERFUL PLANET!!! PLEASE DO SOME SERIOUS RESEARCH ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. THANK YOU. SINCERELY KARI POWELL.🐻🐺🐂🐃🐄🐑🐮🐔🦃. TIME TO FIND A REAL SOLUTION OPPOSED TO MURDER AND TERRIBLE WAYS CERTAIN PEOPLE ACCOMPLISH THIS!! AGAIN THANK YOU. 💯❤️❤️🙏🙏

To many tree huggers. Pretty sure mankind was created first than animals. Like anything else these bears need to be managed through hunting. There population has grown out of control. If this bear was eating my life stock he would be getting a 200gr Nosler Partition through his shoulders.

Absolutely. There is plenty of deer and elk and everything else for that bear to eat. No he has to pick on easy livestock that the farmer or rancher has hundreds of dollars invested in. People don’t understand what raising and owning livestock is about. Now that farmer is out the money, and the beef if he was going to butcher it for his family. He doesn’t raise cattle to lose them, he raises them to sell and feed people. If that was my cow that bear would be a rug on my living room floor.

Not only is that rancher out for that beef but that grizzly won't stop with one he will make a habit now of killing livestock which will lead to the Conservation dept putting it down.

The bear won’t respect anyone who can’t spell better than him. And I’m not even going to start on your appealing ignorance regarding the origins of various species. Most predators pre-date humankind... many by several million years.

Really? Grizzlies home and if you want free range cattle in Predators territory that's what's going to happen either build a fence or deal with losing a few cattle here and there

Talk about people being clueless, look at both of you naive ducks. This has nothing to do with the nature, cattle are not wildlife but it is how Farmers support their families. If you see a grizzly bear killing a dog, you think that's nature? there's a big difference between a grizzly bear killing cattle then a grizzly bear bear killing a deer. I'm sorry but you too are hilarious and ridiculous at the same time.

Yes. I do think, a bear killing a dog is " nature" I'd be like.. atta boy for the bear and the dog. More so the dog. As it is doing, what nature intended it to do. Protect and alert us from predators. And for the bear, taking an easy meal. Cuz, that! To quote the great mufasa, " is the circle of life." Who needs comedians. When we have all of these myth busting " there's no such thing as a bad idea" ideas. Lol

They are likely honking at the bear because predation on livestock will likely lead to the demise of the bear, either being trapped and relocated or destroyed.

If you live anywhere in the world you have displaced some type of wild animal and should leave because they were there first. Absolutely a stupid argument. Just as stupid as saying bears don't cross roads.......

The carring capacity of the range is what determines how many animals can survive. When it's exceeded then they either need to be relocated or the numbers balanced. Since other states have refused to take grizzly bears the only other option is to reduce numbers, either by starvation or by hunting with quotas limited the numbers taken. All wild game need this to maintain a healthy population. Grizzly included.

If that had been a sow with Cubs they would have been there. Sows don't haul food back in their mouths like a bird to the nest. Amazing anyone would think that......

Hopefully the rancher will be quickly notified and paid for their loss.

People should intervene when they can. That's nature too. Animals in the wild often intervene and save wild animals. If it was your head of cattle you wouldn't just watch would you. Of course not. I am always going to intervene. Bears don't have anymore land rights then people. Gees wake up people. Oh now that bear likely gets killed too

Wanting to prevent or at least minimize this situation is one of the reasons folks go vegan.
Less demand for beef, less incentive to run cattle on grizzly habitat. More space and resources for wild animals, including prey for the bear.
